Web Design trends for 2014

Web Design has changed so much over the past 10 years. Who remembers the times when website design was a list of links and information with no visual content? We got to 1999 when everyone was finally thinking about where to place content, so it made it easier for the user to find what they wanted. Thankfully we’ve now gone past that stage and we are starting to see more smart design.

So what trends will designers come up with next? Where will web design be in 2014? Heres a sneak peak….

Code Free Design

Adobe Edge Reflow

Adobe Edge Reflow

The next big thing with website design. Designers will be able to create code-free website design. Adobe has caught on to this and released ‘Adobe Edge Reflow’ which allows you to design powerful responsive designs.

Flat Design

Flat Design has already started to grow this year and it looks set to grow even further. So no more gradients or drop shadows… Have a look at the metro design if you want a greater understanding. By using flat design, it allows the website to be clean and simple making a great user experience. Flat design is the way forward!

Responsive Design

This has already become a hot topic for designers so far this year and it looks like it’s going to grow into 2014 as well. There are so many more people that are using websites on their Smartphone and on their iPad, which will then mean further development into retina display websites.

It pretty much says what it does on the tin. Less is more, no one wants to have cluttered content on the page. Would you stay on a website that is cluttered?

I can guarantee you that some of these will be used next year and you will need to watch out for them! Moreover, HTML5 is going to be used even more so the use of videos will become ever more important.
