Six short years ago, the genius that was Steve Jobs unveiled Apples iPhone to the world. Since then smartphones have become for many people, an absolute necessity in their lives. I don’t know about you, but mine is my life; I am not kidding.
Apps are literally everywhere we look, with an estimated 400,000 + new apps being released this year …
But which of the current crop are actually useful to an iPhone-loving creative looking to boost their productivity or just find inspiration?
Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. This means that any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to all your computers, phones and even the Dropbox website.
Dropbox also makes it super easy to share with others, whether you’re a student or professional, parent or grandparent. Storing your files where you can access them any time you have internet access.
Google has Google Drive, Microsoft has SkyDrive. They all do essentially the same thing with a few minor differences – online storage ‘in the cloud’.
We love Dropbox because…
Saves bloating everyone’s email with vast attachments and makes everything easier to file and find.
Dropbox lets you define which folders are public and you can share specific files with specific people.
Dropbox has great integration with other apps making it easy to create files in other apps and save them straight into your Dropbox.
“TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology. Entertainment. Design.”
If you don’t have the TED app already, you need it – unless you’re the next Steve Jobs…
TED is inspiration for creativity and technology, coupled with valuable lessons for humanity and sometimes marketing.
We love TED because…
Each video is downloadable (with subtitles in over 90 languages), with the entire library at your fingertips to browse at any time, even when you’re not online directly on your device!
You will feel surprisingly worldly and uplifted after every single one.
There are lots and lots of To-Do apps and this is one of them, only difference is Trello is like a whiteboard with super powers; simple to use and infinitely flexible.
Whether you’re managing a team of freelancers, tracking sales leads, or just making a list of stuff to get done, this will get you organised and on top of it all.
We love Trello because…
A great time and project management tool that looks good on mobile and easy to use.
You’ll know exactly what needs to get done, who’s going to do it, and what’s coming up next.
Everything you do is synced and saved instantly to Trello.com. Use the web site to stay organised while you’re at your desk, and the app to stay up to date while you’re out and about.
We have barely scratched the app surface with these 3; but they are the ones we find most handy and practical for creatives on an everyday basis. What have we missed, is there an app you cannot live without, or an awesome app you have unearthed that you want to share…?
